Confederate stone of Ezekiel Brashear at the Branson Cemetery at the mouth of Pratt Branch. He was s/o Sampson Brashear and Margaret Bright....This man was totally unmarked except for a small fieldstone. Local historian Bill Banks received a letter in the late 1980s from a distant cousin, Sonny Branson of California, identifying the exact location of Ezekiels burial site in relation to other graves. Upon receipt of the letter, Bill had the little metal marker visible at the lower right placed on the grave. members of the Caudill Camp set the stone later with guidance from Bill. Mr. Branson also informed Bill that Ezekiel had been killed at Mt. Sterling during Gen. Morgans last raid into KY in early June 1864. He claimed the General himself ordered that Ezekiels body be carried home for burial for the bravery he had shown at Mt. Sterling.....DEO VINDICE.
