Confession: I havent stepped foot into a gym in over 2 weeks! I enjoyed every minute of it too! When I was back home in Alabama, my first goal was to move daily and eat in moderation. My mom has an ancient treadmill (see attached picture) and 5lb weights; I made it happen with what she had on hand - no excuses. My second goal was to eat whatever I wanted; in moderation. Yes! Whatever I wanted! My mom can cook!! Needless to say, I ate good! Moderation is not deprivation or starvation. Its enjoying whatever you want, be it fried chicken (I love fried chicken!!), bacon, Reese cups (another fav!!) - in moderation. This year I challenge you to find balance. So often we get caught up in what the next person is doing. We try to eat the way they eat, workout the way they workout, etc. None of us a perfect. Personally, I dont consider any food off limits. After all, food doesnt make you fat; overeating does. You can eat whatever you want - in moderation! When you find what works for you, the binge-eat cycle ends, you stop depriving yourself, you stop overeating, you stop stressing over food, and most importantly you start ENJOYING life!! Being healthy is not a destination - lose 20 lbs and youre done. Its a journey; a way of life. One of my goals this year is to help other women find their balance - not a replica of someone elses.
