Congratulations to all of you who just finished their PSLE! Its time to have fun! :) Well done to all for the hard work. I know some students werent pleased with their performances at the examinations and were fretting about them. Let me repeat some wise words Steve Jobs told my graduating class nine years ago when he was the speaker at my commencement ceremony at Stanford University. You cant connect the dots looking forward. you can only connect them looking backwards. Steve Jobs took a calligraphy instruction class in college. At that point of time, it seemed utterly useless and not practical at all. 10 years later, he created fonts for Macintosh using the knowledge he learnt in those lessons and it was a big hit. You may have done badly for the PSLE. You cant see any silver lining now. Dont worry- life has more in store for you. This small setback may mould you into a stronger person. You may go to a school and meet the best teacher youve ever encountered. Or this may compel you to work even harder in secondary school and you end up becoming the most successful person in your primary school class 20 years later. You just dont know it yet. You have to wait to connect the dots. In the meantime, you deserve a break. Enjoy the next three months before you tackle *gasp* nine subjects next year. :) Wallace P.S.
