Congratulations to the 2013 WPRA CA Circuit Qualifiers. The CCF will be held at the Antelope Valley Fairgrounds in Lancaster October 17th 7pm and October 18th 1pm and 7pm. Please come join us. Awards Ceremony for the top 12 will be held at my trailer friday at 3pm and I invite the families and friends to join us for a tri tip sandwich made by Tedda and Tootie Hudson, celebrating these fine competitors and their equine partners. Linda Vick lives in Hesperia, CA and was born April 30, 1947, in Los Angeles, Calif. She joined the WPRA in 1984 and has been a tough competitor ever since. Riding Ar Will He Tell “Will” a gelding by Especial and out of JW DIxie Chick our 2012 WPRA CA Circuit Horse of the Year and a new Futurity Colt she calls Frenchy she is coming into our CCF in the first hole. Linda’s horse Running Episode “Hollywood”, finished second in the PRCA/AQHA Horse of the Year voting in 20105 Linda was WNFR Reserve Year End Champion in 2005. She attended Cal Poly University Linda has made at least four trips to the Ram National Circuit Finals Rodeo representing CA and has won or placed at most Pro Rodeos in CA and throughout the Nation. She is one of the most popular barrel racers with the fans; they love rooting for a grandmother who rides like the wind. Linda is an inspiration to many barrel racers with an approachable attitude. Her husband Joe Vick travels with her and is also loved by all. Husband, Joe (general engineer contractor); sons, John Walker and Billy Vick; daughters, Tammy Vick and Becky Jensen…Learned to barrel race by attending a barrel racing clinic and the rest she says was trial and error. Her father Julian Smith got her interested in rodeo through his work of putting on rodeos…Trains barrel horses when not competing…Father, Julian, and mother, Lois Smith used to own a riding stable in the shadows of the famous Hollywood sign. She says that is why she had to buy the horse nicknamed Hollywood sight unseen which carried her to the Wrangler NFR in 2005…Didnt really start rodeoing until her kids were in junior rodeo and then she fell in love with the sport, qualifying for the IPRA Finals in 1982. Her favorite rodeos are Salinas and San Francisco! Enjoys playing cards while on the road and watching football with her supportive husband Joe. 2. Sheena Robbins was born in Fresno June 6, 1983 where she now resides. Becoming a member of the WPRA in 2006, riding the 2013 WPRA CA Circuit Horse of the Year Bar D Mr Dual Olena “Shorty” a bay gelding by Boon Freckles out of Miss Dual Dreamer. Sheena has qualified for the WNFR and has won or placed at numerous Rodeo throughout the Nation. Winning Clovis, CA her ‘hometown’ rodeo was a highlight in her career. Sheena has had adversity keeping Shorty sound, but through her perseverance has proved a solid comeback with her equine partner! Winning the 1999 National High School Cutting gave her a basic foundation for starting and riding barrel horses, which has helped her with her business; training and selling barrel horses. Sheena enjoys roping as well as running barrels. Her mother, Brenda Robbins competed in the WPRA running barrels and bother Cody is a PRCA team roper. Father Dale Robbins and is a cutting horse trainer. Family owns a vineyard where they make raisins…Graduated from Riverdale (Calif.) High School. Her favorite rodeos are Houston and Ellensburg, Wash., as they are a lot of fun and her horse likes them. Superstition is - dont wear yellow…Proudly shares that you can head, heel and calf rope on her great barrel horse Shorty. 3. Ann Scott is the daughter of Walter and Valerie Scott, living in Canyon Country, CA. Her father is a PRCA steer wrestler and team roper and her mother Val ran barrels in the WPRA. Her brother Wesley has worked nearly every event and the family is well known in the motion picture business working as stunt doubles, stunt coordinators and second unit directors. Ann works as a stuntwoman, and is a member of the prestigious United Stuntwomen’s Association. She rides Fallin For Fame aka Buzz, a homegrown sorrel gelding that won the 2014 WPRA CA Circuit Horse of the Year. With limited hauling this year, Ann and Buzz ended up 18th in the National Standings, nearly qualifying for their first WNFR. 2015 looks promising, as they will have qualified for the Limited Rodeos that pay big! Ann has some young promising horses related to Buzz in the barn and we should look forward to watching them become seasoned in the future. 4. Erin Ricotti has qualified on Royal Star Commander this year. She qualified to run at The American representing California. Her children compete in the WPRA/PRCA and Erin trains many good horses. She has worked as a stuntwoman in the motion picture business 5. Nicole Riggle grew up riding horses with her dad, competitively reigned, and at 10 started running barrels. She won numerous open races and youth races until she was finally able to buy her WPRA Permit at 18. She filled her permit the first summer she competed with her grey mare Chowchilla Filly who she calls Cici. She then went on to run her the following year in 2013. This pair ended up in the top 50 in the world and qualified for her first circuit finals with the Turquoise Circuit. They also won the 2013 Turquoise Circuit Rookie of the year. She started off this year with her new horse Shoeless Joe Biankus who she calls Shoe. They clicked automatically and really fit each other like a glove. He started picking up checks in the winter at big rodeos like San Antonio, and she knew they had a big future ahead of them. She went hard throughout the summer and Shoe stayed strong. They are currently in the top 50 in the world and she is excited to have qualified for the California Circuit Finals! 6. Rachel Dice qualifying for her first CCF in 6th shot is looking forward to this opportunity riding her main horse “Tivitos At The Gogo Bar” aka Katy! This is Rachel Dice’s first year in WPRA, and what a year it’s been! When Rachel and her little 14 hand mare Katie started they were just thrilled to be a part of WPRA. Everything after that has been frosting on the cake for what’s become the most fabulous year ever. Winning the WPRA CA Circuit Rookie of the Year, Rachel has a long career ahead of her. Rachel thanks God Almighty for allowing her to do what she loves most. Since starting to run in January, Rachel has surprisingly also achieved many of her dreams. First filling her card, next seeing her name on the leader board at rodeos like Redding and St Paul, then a big win at Santa Barbara Rodeo, followed by becoming number one Rookie in California, & now making it to the finals! 7. Rachel Primm qualifies for her second CA Circuit Finals on her good horse Dashin Julene. A student at Cal Poly in SLO, Rachel spends as much time as school allows competing at Rodeos throughout the Nation. A past WPRA CA Circuit National Rookie of the Year, we will look forward to seeing Rachel’s name in the standings for years to come. Her father Roger Primm is one of her number one supporters and fans, helping to keep her focused on her game. She owns Pacific Horse Publications with partners. She has been in the Publishing business for over 30 years. Her daughter and Granddaughter also run barrels and are big supporters of Virginia. Virginia’s highlight this year was making the short round in Clovis Rodeo, and qualifying for the Circuit Finals. This is her 3rd trip to the Circuit Finals, and it feels like a huge achievement every time. Her horse, Nip it Now, is a 6 year old gelding that she bought as a 3 yr. old and trained herself. This is the 3rd horse she has qualified to the Circuit finals, training each of them herself which is quite an accomplishment. 9. Courtney Cline studied at Cuesta College and has qualified to numerous CA Circuit Finals. This year riding her main horse Pic N Sandichex aka Pix. We will be excited to see this great team running in Lancaster this week and wish them much luck. 10. Jolee Lautaret-Jordan from Kingman, AZ is qualifying for another CCF and is a past WNFR Qualifier. She rides Down Home Daisy this year who was also ridden by her mom Dolli Lautaret. Jolee is married to PRCA Rodeo Judge Allen Jordan, who campaigns for the barrel racers! 11. Karla Sanchez was born April 29, 1957 and lives in Los Alamos, CA. Proudly riding Missy Marquita aka Missy and Master Rabbit; both by Fresno Ima Master. Highlights include winning Sam Dimas, Brawley and Yuma Jaycees Silver Spur Rodeo this past year and qualifying to the Circuit Finals. She is a past qualifier to the CCF and to the Dodge National Circuit Finals Rodeo! Karla was a CCRA Rookie of the Year as well. Single and working as a CA State Brand Inspector for over 25 years, she knows livestock. Karla has trained and sold numerous fabulous horses, rodeoing a limited time, selling those horses when they began showing promise. Recently employed by Cactus Saddlery; training and competing on Cactus owned horses Karla will be riding Missy at the CCF. She enjoys running a few stocker cattle in her spare time and shares that her biggest accomplishment in her life is being mom to her lovely daughter Kassandra Schnieder! 12. Toni Miller is a 2nd Grade Elementary Teacher and graduated from Cal Poly SLO with a Master’s Degree. She was born into a rodeo family; father Neal Arave is a PRCA Judge, mother Karen Arave competes in the barrel race and is a WPRA member, brother Brian Arave is a PRCA team roper and calf roper and brother Daryl Arave is a Hunting Guide and Elk Rancer. Career Highlights include: 2013/2014 National Police Rodeo All Around Champion, College National Finals Qualifier all 4 years in barrels, goat tying and breakaway roping, College National Finals Champion Breakaway Roper, 2 time College West Coast Region All Around Cowgirl and Breakaway Roper. Toni has been riding Bugs N Fame aka Lucille qualifying for the CCF. Lucille is on the injured list and will not be able to compete in the CCF, Toni will be riding another horse. We wish Lucille a speedy recovery!
