Congress Leader Assaults Lady Doctor, Fir Lodged Baramulla: A lady doctor associated with Sub district Hospital Hajin in North Kashmir’s Baramullah district has allegedly been assaulted by a local congress leader during her night duty on Tuesday night. The victim lady doctor (name with held) told a local news agency CNS that at around 11:30 pm when she was performing her night duty, local congress leader Imtiyaz Ahmad Parray barged into hospital and asked her to accompany with him to see his ailing mother.“I told my subordinate to go along with him but he insisted on me to go with him. I refused by saying that according to rules lady doctors are not bound to go out of hospital with males during the night for looking patients but he pulled my hair and dragged me along the floor,” she said. “Patients and other staff members of the hospital are witness to the incident. I was weeping throughout the night. After the incident I am now scared to move out of my house,” she said. Eyewitnesses while confirming the incident said that Parray lost his cool and threatened lady doctor of dire consequences. Mean while a case has been registered a case against the accused in police station Sumbal.“We have registered an FIR (84/2014) in police station Sumbal,” police officials said. Lady Doctor told the news agency that police has also registered a case against her on unknown basis. “I do not know why police registered case against me when under rules it is written that a lady can’t venture out from the hospital during night duty. I am feeling very unsecure after the incident,” she said. However accused Parray alleged that the lady doctor abused her by calling him ‘ ikhwani’ and told him she would not treat ikhwanis.Chief Medical Officer Bandipora G.M.Dar said that no doctor can move out of hospital premises during duty hours.“It is obligatory for the attendant to bring the patient into the hospital. I have directed Block Medical Officer to constitute a committee to ascertain the facts,” he said. (CNS #Muneer
