Consider: Christ, the ultimate Adam. Both entered this world - TopicsExpress

Consider: Christ, the ultimate Adam. Both entered this world through a supernatural work of God. No earthly father. One created in the image of God. One, very God. (Genesis 1:27; Colossians 1:19) Two genealogies. (Genesis 5:1; Matthew 1:1) Adam was the last work of God in the original creation. In Christ, all become a new creation. One brought mankind a curse. The other became the curse for mankind. (Galatians 3:13) God fashioned Adams bride from his side in a deep sleep so that he might not be alone. Christ was forsaken while purchasing His bride having His side pierced in the sleep of death. (John 19:34) Two gardens. Two trees. Two decisions. For Adam, obedience to God in the garden about a tree would lead to life. He rebelled resulting in death for all. For Jesus, obedience to God in a garden about the tree would lead to death. He obeyed resulting in eternal life offered to all. (1 Peter 2:24) Adam was alone in a garden with animals. Jesus was alone in the wilderness with animals. (Mark 1:12-13) Both were confronted by the devil in that place. Both were offered food. In both cases the enemy twisted Gods Word. Adam succumbed to temptation. Jesus submitted to Truth. (Genesis 3; Matthew 4) Adam blamed others for his sin. Jesus opened not his mouth while being blamed. God sought Adam in his way of rebellion with Where are you? Jesus was forsaken during His work of reconciliation as He cried My God, My God, why have you forsaken me? The Scriptures open with God seeking man. (Adam) The Scriptures close with man seeking God, Come, Lord Jesus! (Genesis 3:9; Matthew 27:46, Revelation 22:20) Adam tried to cover his shame with fig leaves. Jesus cursed the fig tree on the way to the cross where He bore our shame. (Genesis 3:7; Matthew 21:19) A sheep had to die that Adams nakedness might be covered. The Lamb of God died stripped of his clothing that we might be clothed in Christs righteousness. Adam was cast out of the garden with the curse of the ground. Jesus was crowned with the curse (thorns) to bring us to God. For Adam, sweat to the brow. For Jesus, blood-like sweat. (Genesis 3:19; Luke 22:44) Access to the tree of life was prohibited through Adam. In Christ, the invitation was restored. Adams sin promised he would return to the ground in death. Jesus sacrifice provided the promise of resurrection from the ground for all who believe. Christ, the ultimate Adam.
