Construction updates provided by Salem State University: Off-Hour Work Weather permitting, Turner Construction will continue work on glass installation and interior framing and finishes on Saturday, January 24 starting at 8 a.m. Viking Hall The building is enclosed with the exception of the glass installation which is ongoing. Interior framing, build out and finishes has begun and will be completed from the top floor down. This work is expected to continue through the winter months. Peabody Hall Lot Parking Garage Construction is scheduled to begin in March 2015. The logistics plan for this project was presented to the Salem State University Neighborhood Advisory Committee (SSUNAC) at the January 21 meeting. Sophia Gordon Center for the Creative and Performing Arts Mobilization of the site is complete. Contractor trailers have been installed in the laydown area on the former library lot. The area behind the O’Keefe Center that was used for laydown space for construction work in the past will be used as additional laydown for this project. The map showing the truck route from this area to the site is posted in the presentation to the SSUNAC on the construction blog (campusconstruction.salemstate.edu/). Removal of the front and side stairs will begin next week to provide more workspace within the site. Interior abatement and demolition is ongoing. The re-design of the sign for this building is anticipated to be presented at the SSUNAC meeting on February 18, 2015. Science Building Study Payette, a leading architectural firm, presented initial concepts on siting and massing of the proposed building at the SSUNAC meeting on January 21.
