Cool facts about Muslims - Fact#27 - In the United States, about 30% of Muslims are African-Americans and 35% are South-Central Asians descending from Indian, Pakistani, Bangladeshi, or Afghani immigrants. Muslims of Arab descent make up less than 25%, and immigrants from the African continent make up another 10%. There are also sizable groups of American Muslims of Iranian, Turkish, Southeast Asian, Latin and European descent. Between 15% and 25% of American Muslims are converts/reverts to the faith (nearly 2/3 are African-Americans). Every year, approximately 10,000 people in the U.S. convert to Islam. The vast majority of Muslims do not speak Arabic as their native tongue. Most Muslims are not Arab. Indonesia has the largest number of Muslims (200 million), followed by Pakistan (160 million), India (150 million), and Bangladesh (140 million).
