Corner Brook to get its first dog park. City council had approved the use of a decommissioned softball diamond at Fred Basha Memorial Field for a dog park. Many people have been asking for a number of years for the city to establish a dog park so that their pets can run freely and in a safe environment. The project will cost about $20 000 with the city investing $15 000 along with a generous donation of $5 000 from the Humber Rotary Club to install fencing, grass and pea gravel and to carry out other minor improvements to the field. The dog park will measure 100 feet x 100 feet and should be open to the general public and their pooches by the end of August.
