Couch Potato Christianity As you might have remembered....this time last year God placed me on what I called His Still Time for me. He had tried to get my attention and I was like Martha..(Luke 10:38-42)......to busy working on my own agenda to see Gods will right in front of me. I didnt go quietly.....I went down kicking and screaming! As I settled down ....and kept thinking about the Bible verse Bro Faris had repeated to me for over three years.....Jeremiah 29:11.......God started revealing bits and pieces of His plan for my life. Parts of this process was painful as He closed doors that I had walked through for over 10 years and even more painful.....He revealed and gave transparency to people I had extended my trust and faith. He used this to show me.....never put trust in man.....disappointment will follow. (Psalms 118:8). During this still time......I grew closer to God. My relationship with Him took on a deeper meaning. I needed this life changing still time. (Psalm 46:10) Then, something happened a couple months ago. The light that was glowing so bright started to dwindle. You see......it is very easy to become complacent. BUT.....there is a huge difference in God placing you still and being complacent. Complacency quickly leads to ......well....a disease I call Couch Potato Christianity. You can see God working, you can see the field He has ready to harvest.....but it is much easier to not fight the battle against others who are happy being complacent so...you just join them on the couch. The body of Christ must work together. The agenda must be Christ centered. When everyone has their own agenda....Christ falls to the bottom and self rises to the top. Soon.....the couch is full. What happens to Gods work? He uses others willing to work, serve, and love. God has work to be done. We can either stay on the couch or join Him. The decision is ours. We have prayed for weeks for God to use us and get us off the couch. To re-light the torch! God started a work.....that He will finish......we just have to open our hearts and follow His call! We will work till Jesus comes....even if it means stepping out on faith, trusting Him, and .....moving off the couch. Philippians 1:6 Being confident of this very thing, that He who hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the Day of Jesus Christ! Love you all!
