Cough Nod off Choke Wake Repeat Looks like life has wasted today for me. My tongue has swollen from the coughing to clear my lungs of a cold and now the moment I nod off I choke on my own tongue. It happens about every 5 years. At least the reflex is to wake the brain to take control of said lolling tongue and to move the body to clear the windpipe. Much better then dying though. Which is nice. Once asleep the coughing reflex from the raw tongue shuts down and unconscious movement keeps the air flowing. Its crossing the threshold thats the problem. Well, after 5 hours of this I give up. Ive crossed the point where actually not being able to breath doesnt panic me anymore. Im just bored. Its sad as I wont be able to achieve a single thing today as all Ill want to do is sleep. If I do sleep that will be me gone for the day. At least Ill get to watch the dawn in an hour.
