Could a greater miracle take place than for us to look through - TopicsExpress

Could a greater miracle take place than for us to look through each others eyes for an instant? - Henry David Thoreau. Just imagine if you knew why the bus driver was grumpy this morning, or why the stranger who smiled at you was happy? Their outward demeanour would suddenly be instantly understandable and they wouldnt seem so separate and different to ourselves. It seems to me that we all need to smile at each other more, do small acts of kindness when we can, instead of holding back for fear of how it might be received. It doesnt really matter how its received - we do a thing because it feels right to do it, to be happy ourselves we must be who we are. Never a magnanimity fell to the ground, but there is some heart to greet and accept it unexpectedly. A man passes for that he is worth. What he is engraves itself on his face, on his form, on his fortunes, in letters of light. Concealment avails him nothing; boasting nothing. There is confession in the glances of our eyes; in our smiles; in salutations; and the grasp of hands. His sin bedaubs him, mars all his good impression. Men know not why they do not trust him; but they do not trust him. His vice glasses his eye, cuts lines of mean expression in his cheek, pinches the nose, sets the mark of the beast on the back of the head, and writes O fool! fool! on the forehead of a king. - Ralph Waldo Emerson. No one can sink lower or reach higher than any other and who we are is who we choose to be, outgoing or timid, kind or cruel. Maybe a small kindness to someone whos never experienced it will be the thing that changes their entire life. Whoever we are, we all like a little kindness and cheer sometimes and Im smiling at you right now, so pass it on will you? ;)
