Cowes Week, first overall in Class 0 with one race to go. Going - TopicsExpress

Cowes Week, first overall in Class 0 with one race to go. Going into the last day of racing at Cowes Week 2014 in Class 0 on board Irvine Laidlaws RP IRC 52 were in first place overall. With a bullet on the first day and a string of seconds were a mere two points ahead of Tokolosha (after each team play our discards) with one race to go. Heres a VERY NOISY video from yesterday taken at the back of the IOW as we approached St Catherines Light at speeds of up to twenty knots, with Peter Holmberg as tactician and Ben Ainslie driving. Apart from the trimmers were all stacked at the back in a knotted group and the sound of lines being eased/trimmed on winches comes across loud and clear. However, when on the boat this passes into the background and the overwhelming sound is that of tactical chat (only) between mainly the after-guard, trimmers and crew boss Paul Standbridge. What a great learning experience its been sailing on such a reactive boat and with another well oiled talented team, who are also as my French friends would say très sympa.
