Cpl Girouard after 21 years of loyal service in the Canadian regular forces is retiring on the 21st April 2014. Pascal (peewee) Girouard joined the Canadian Armed Forces at Three Rivers in 1988. He completed his recruiting schooling at St-Jean where he later continued his Basic supply technician course in Borden. In June 1989 he was transferred to the 5th battalion supply unit where he worked in the different sections such as the warehouse, the MSA, Bath and Laundry during the RV 89 and Wainwright 92 exercise and Gagetown on a few occasions and including the OKA crisis. In 1994 he was transferred the maintenance section where the pieces where kept. He was then deployed with the same section to Bosnia in 1995. In 1997 he was transferred to the QMR of the 2nd R22R where he would be later deployed to Winnipeg, Red river where there was the extensive flooding. In 1998 he was transferred to Base supply Borden after following a 9 month English course. His main tasks were with the Clothing section where he had a chance to practise his English. In 2001 he would be deployed to Israel, Golan Heights and work in the ration section. In 2004 he was transferred to 3 CSU where his main function was Hazardous goods. He participated on different tasks which included Germany, twice to Bosnia and 6 times to Afghanistan. In 2010 Cpl Girouard joined the reserves, Canadian rangers, 2nd patrol group. He worked at the QMR section where he took care of the inventory for all patrol units north of Quebec. In 2012 he was then transferred to the regular forces and was sent to 25 Canadian forces supply depot where he worked at the Installation section and then tasked to the Consolidation area completing demands in the system supporting all units across Canada and all missions abroad. Cpl Girouard will be returning to Victoriaville There will be a dinner in his honour which will be held at the restaurant au Vieu Duluth, 5460 rue Sherbrooke, East Montreal.
