Creative people create because there is something in the current existing reality that does not fulfill them in the way they need to be fulfilled. Creating art is a continual drive toward building ones own utopia. And that utopia will never share the same plane as this world, except in the experience of creating and sharing ones art. In this way, we singers, writers, actors, musicians, artists, photographers, jewelers, designers, directors, architects, etc... we can finally find a home in a world that often seems less than inviting to us, that often chars and breaks and batters our sensitive souls, that overwhelms and under-nourishes us. In this way, we can finally find a home, warm and welcoming and uniquely ours, and we can invite others into it to be warmed, welcomed, and nourished themselves.
