Credit me, or fault me for being on a downtown cleanliness crusade. We have allowed this to NOT be a priority for far too long. The reasons are many, beginning with budget and staffing considerations, but the facts are what we see everyday. To the Mayors credit she has a pilot program in mind to try and address the issue. That does not help us right now. Yesterday Councillors Famico and Gerard took it upon themselves to procure equipment (with no help at all from Gordon College) to clean up some of last falls leaves and this past winters sand from the area around Old Town Hall. Kudos to them for caring enough to do more than just make a phone call to identify the problem. #KeepSalemClean
