Cricket hangover Though the cricket 20/20 world cup held at Bangladesh came to end, its fever still prevails in many of it fans. A week ago a young bangladeshi man came to Bahrain for a job and along with him brought his cricket fever which spread like fire into the others he befriended. Mr. Thameemul Hassan, being cricket fanatic, he urged and convience his fellow nationals from the labor camp where is resides currently to come to togather to form a team and play the game. Creating two team, one that of the married men and the other of bachlors, the was on. A serioes of three matches will be eld and the winner team will be presentd with BD 20 from the loosing team and the money would be raised withing the team members contributing. Trying to imitate the national team, the scenario during the match is as intence as during a professional match with batsmen ready, waiting for their turn, three people managing the team, empires overlooking the match and even a water boy. The teams consist of residents rannging from 15 year upto 2 days. For us the game is very serious and we try to play as professionally as possible. We all love cricket and use to play back home when we were kids. But now after so long that we have the oppotunity and we are really happy. said Munir Ali, a bangladeshi labor. In order to encourage one another, they relate their performance to that of the players of the Bangladesh Cricket team. When some hit a six we call him Mushfiqar Rahim, the captian of the national team and if someone takes more wicket we address him as Mohammad Rafique, the leading wickets-taker in test matches and so on. added Ali. After wining the 3 matches their aim next is to play a match at the Aali Statdium with other teams. We want to play with teams from other countries. This labour camp is not the sole place where cricket is being played and practise but even in a camp in Asker, a team of pakistani nationals are often seen practising. Leaving Bangladesh we had never hought taht we would get a chance to play criciket in a foriegn land but after comming to here we get more opportuity that we would get back home. This country had given us so much freedom. said AbulRafiq, another bangladeshi national.
