Crime summit set for Vic Falls: International fraud detection experts will converge in Victoria Falls for the 3rd annual White Collar Crime Summit to explore ways to tackle the scourge of corruption. The summit comes at a time when there is renewed commitment by the government to rid corruption in the country. The 3-day summit slated for the 27th to the 29th of this month will focus on appropriate approaches, how to identify fraud risk and prevent it in the corporate world, government agencies and civil society. Proctor and Associates Zimbabwe senior partner, Proctor Nyemba said white collar crime has adverse economic effects as it reduces business confidence, hence the need for concerted efforts to curb further losses. Research by the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners has shown that corruption makes up to 50 percent of Africa’s fraud cases, which is probably reflective of growth in new modes of fraud on the continent, especially those relating to cyber-crime. Renowned American white collar crime expert, Peter Goldman will deliver the key note address at the Victoria Falls crime summit which is set to attract company executives, risk fraud managers, internal auditors and accountants, among others.
