A really tiny kb with hardware MIDI out - ie, not just USB. Either full size MIDI ports, or that old miniDIN 8 pin serial port marked Mac/PC. Size wise, something like the Korg Nano series would be perfect. Mini keys, one or two octaves tops. Also DC powered. Some assignable knobs would be gr8 too. Either built in, or another tiny thing with actual MIDI.
