Currently, when we elect the president, the popular vote is cast, - TopicsExpress

Currently, when we elect the president, the popular vote is cast, but the electoral vote is what actually elects the president. Four times in our nations history has a president lost the popular vote, yet won the electoral vote, thus winning the presidency. ( one was actually elected by congress when neither candidate failed to get a majority of the electoral college vote) Some argue the electoral college helps the smaller states (referring to population) have a bigger voice in the presidential election. Do you think the popular vote should decide the presidential election? I would appreciate your feedback.
