Cynthia Osokogu: Judge frowns on delay Justice Olabisi Akinlade of a Lagos High Court sitting in Igbosere, on Friday, frowned on the delay of criminal charge filed by the Lagos State government against four persons over the murder of Cynthia Osokogu. Cynthia was murdered in a hotel room at Festac Town in Lagos by friends she met on Facebook. The defendants, Okwumo Nwabufo 35; Olisaeloka Ezike, 25; Orji Osita, 35 and Ezike Nonso, 27, were charged to court for conspiracy and murder. The prosecution had concluded its case on September 19 after calling 10 witness. The judge had adjourned till Friday for the opening of defence. However,the first and fourth defendants’ counsels were not in court for the defence, a development which made the judge furious. Akinlade wondered why the case was being delayed and threatened to go on with the case on the next adjourned date. The case was consequently adjourned to October 10.
