DA Condone grand fraud of R30 000 in the Western Cape 10 November 2013, Cape Town The SACP in the Brian Bunting District (Cape Metro) is perturbed by comments made by the DA leader in the Western Cape legislature Ivan Meyer which seeks to condone corruption. These comments comes after a DA councilor Michael Toko Ward 20 Delft has been accused of social grant fraud worth R30 000. In our view, we believe the DA’s reluctance to act swiftly against the accused councilor clearly confirms our long standing view that the slogan of clean governance it’s a propaganda to defend and deepen corruption in order glorify the system of capitalism and further exploit the working class. It is against this background, the vanguard Party in the Brian Bunting District fully support the call made by the ANC’s leader in the legislature comrade Pierre Uys that the DA should take strong action against its councilor Michael Toko. Furthermore, as the vanguard Party of the working class we would like to make it clear that we are not going flinch on our stance against corruption irrespective of who is involved because to us corruption is theft from the poor and it has no place in our country. As the SACP we launched Our Red October Campaign under the theme “Transform the Financial Sector to serve the People which speaks against these unscrupulous criminal activities and those who commit themselves in robbing the poor. Therefore, as the SACP we are concerned by the inconsistency of the DA in dealing with its own councilors who are found on the other side of the law. This is contrary to what they have been doing to ANC councilors who were purged by the DA in so many occasions. We call on the DA to immediately suspend the accused councillor (Michael Toko) pending the investigation.
