DAILY ENCOURAGEMENT 08-08-2013 OBEYING GOD By Fred Trokie Did you know that obeying God is part of the good works which God has prepared for us before the foundation of the world? (Ephesians 2:10), and that these works are a result of our salvation that we received by grace? Ephesians 2:8-10 says: 8 For by grace you have been saved through faith ; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God; 9 not as a result of works, so that no one may boast. 10 For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand so that we would walk in them. At the time we believed the gospel of our salvation (1 Corinthians 15:1-4) God provided everything that we would ever need to live victorious in Christ including the desire to obey Him and to please Him. 1 John 5:3 says: 3 For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments: and his commandments are not grievous. We keep His commandments because He first loved us, not the other way around. Romans 5:8 says: 8 But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. God loved us even in our unsaved godless condition. Ephesians 2:1-2 1 And you were dead in your trespasses and sins, 2 in which you formerly walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, of the spirit that is now working in the sons of disobedience. God has given us everything needed to live the Christian life and please Him in all that we do. Even the good works which we are to walk in and obey. God Bless - Fred
