DAILY VICTORY DEVOTIONAL FRIDAY JULY 04, 2014. TOPIC: IN HIS STEPS GOLDEN SCRIPTURE: He that saith he abideth in him ought himself also so to walk, even as he walked – 1 John 2: 6. The word “walk” is profound and speaks of conduct and life style modelled after that of Christ. The Holy Spirit, in our Golden Scripture, through the apostolic pen of John, is demanding for proofs or evidence of our union and fellowship with Christ; as presented in the kind of relationship pictured in the vine-branch imagery in John 15: 6, describing an experience that can be ruptured with a resultant loss of fellowship and fruitlessness. The apostle is saying that if we are enjoying fellowship, real relationship with Christ, that this experience will naturally show in our lifestyle – that is a life modelled after Christ in the obedience to his Word. We are to walk as he walked in obedience. Christ walked in love; Christ walked in passion and commitment to the Father’s purpose and will for his life. Christ walked in self denial and sacrifice. He bore the cross the Father designed for him and he in turn enjoined us to take up our cross daily and follow him. Christ walked on the path of submission and loyalty to the Father. He walked in vision and power. He was never once distracted. He was a sign and a wonder just as we are called to be. “Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus”; Philippians 2: 5. Your life must be patterned after his. PRAYER: Lord, grant me the grace to walk in all my ways even as Jesus walked. BIBLE IN ONE YEAR. PLAN: Job 28 – 29, Acts 13: 1 – 25.
