*DAVES Morbid Election Update: ... The fifth day after the big election is now drawing to a close, & the bottom tier of the results are finally beginning to trickle-in like back in covered wagon days: I refer to the State Legislative races across the heartland, which always receive short shrift and scant attention compared to the Big Three of Senate, U.S. House, & Governors mansions .. Well, heres the deal -- there are now only SIX Democratic-dominated legislatures left in the entire United States of America(!!) :( ... Before you burn your citizenship card, permit me to add, there are 25 Republican-dominated legislatures; what about the others? There are 18 split houses (i.e., the Senate & House is in different party hands), and one state (Nebraska) which is unicameral and nonpartisan. The implications are awesomely urgent: IF, in the next, say, 12-20 years, the Republicans pick up another 13 of those 18 split states, they can legally amend the Constitution at will and even install a Nazi Nation, if that is their desire. Pray for your children and grandchildren -- and take note of this forgotten fight. Three-fourths of State Legislatures (38 states) can alter the U.S. Constitution any way they please. While youre at it, pray for the beloved country.
