DAY 14: GOD WILL SEND THE RIGHT PEOPLE AT THE RIGHT TIME! So my Mom didnt want me to attend John Mc Donogh High because I grew up near the school in the St Bernard projects. We moved from the St Bernard when I was in grade school after my oldest brother was in a fatal accident. My oldest brothers name was Houston like the City. He was the most handsome boy I ever seen. He would pick me up and put me on his shoulders! Then have me wave my hand like a princess. He also had the longest eye lashes and he would put his eye next to mine blinking them really fast making our lashes flutter together. He always said thats how angels greet one another (Hummmm! How did he know that). My brother was said to be riding his bike from school when a city bus driver stroke him accidentally. He did not pass away immediately so I can recall going to the hospital to visit him seeing tubes, pumps, bags, IVs everywhere. My brother was on life support for approx 2 weeks before passing. He was my first and most painful feeling of loss and heart break. As a young girl I didnt understand how my brother could disappear and leave me. God sent me a healer. Mr Alexander didnt give up on me. He came back to my house a week later with his brother Coach Alex Alexander. This Coach that didnt know me or my Mom told my Mom that he would pick me up every morning and drive me home after school. Thats if I attended his school and gave him my all! He said he would get me into the College I want! My Mom walked out of the living room and pulled me into her bedroom for the speech! Here we go... She said, if I let this man pick you up you better listen and be obedient, do not talk back and question anything, you give me your doubt and Ill question him, if he touch you anywhere from the neck down you better tell me, if you get scared remember I dont miss! Tell me you promise!!!!! I said I promise Mom. My Mom moved closer with tears in her eyes and I held her face. I put my eye next to her eyes and fluttered my lashes. I said Mom, thats what angels do! She said you remembered that???? I told her yes. We both started crying and she said you can be a John Mc Trojan. Time for high school. BREAST CANCER AWARENESS MONTH! My life, my story, my journey!
