DAY ONE Monday 5th August 2013 We had an early start to the day at 7:20am for school. We began with a fitness dance “Gym-Jam” for the kids, had breakfast made by the staff which was followed by transition, where the kids brush their teeth and get into their uniforms. Miss Emma, Emma and Jen spent the morning with the seniors doing literacy, reading and creating a rap about Mulan written by the students. Nelly, Bree and Miss Rhonda did craft with the Middle Class making friendship bracelets and necklaces. Meanwhile, Maddi and Lachlan helped the juniors paint and write about their weekend. After this hectic morning, we had Mungari (Recess) where the kids got freshly baked cookies. Meanwhile Mr Ian and Miss Renee continued working hard, painting the basketball courts, later joined by Lachlan and Emma. After Mungari, Nelly, Jen and Miss Emma taught the juniors some animal dance moves and read five picture books, much to the delight of the students. Maddi and Bree helped water the veggie patch with the middle kids; they loved showing a part of their community that they had built to the Corpus Mob. After lunch, we all pitched in with the basketball courts, set up the second-hand shop and also cleaned out the future early childhood centre. After such an exhausting day filled with fun in the sun, we sat down and enjoyed a delicious barbeque cooked by Mr Ian (veggie patties for Maddi) and spent the rest of the night talking about all our experiences.
