^^^^^^^DAY TWO of P.T.T.W.9^^^^^^ #SUDAN, NORTH AFRICA Pray4Sudan The Sudan government imprisoned Meriam Ibrahim for refusing to recant her Christian beliefs. Global political pressure contributed to her release from prison. She and her family are resettling in New Jersey to be close to relatives. Pray for the Ibrahim family as they settle into a new life, and pray they will go ever deeper in Christ Jesus. Pray for those in Sudan who are in prison or are persecuted and face death because of their faith in Jesus Christ. Pray for them to be strong and continue with their commitment to Christ (The Bible, Galatians 2:20). #SOUTHSUDAN, NORTH AFRICA Pray 4 South Sudan The violence in South Sudan has prevented farmers from planting their fields. The result is a lack of crops and an incredible food shortage. There are well over a million internally displaced people. According to the UN Security Council, “South Sudan’s food crisis is the worst in the world.” Pray for an end to the ethnic and political war between President Salva Kiir and his deputy Riek Machar. Pray that the love of the Lord Jesus Christ will grow in South Sudan. Pray for an outbreak of peace and security. Pray for an abundance of food, medicine, and shelter in South Sudan (The Bible, 1 Timothy 6:7-9). #AFGHANISTAN, SOUTH ASIA Pray4Afghanistan In Afghanistan, child injuries and death are increasing due to violent attacks. According to the United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan, “From January to June, an average of 40 children were killed or injured every week. This represents a 34 percent increase in child civilian casualties compared to the same time last year.” The threat of violence discourages parents from seeking medical care for their children. Doctors Without Borders field coordinator Marcus Bachmann says, “Non-war related patients delay their trip to the hospital to avoid risks on the roads. We are talking about children with severe malnutrition or with infections. They arrive at Boost Hospital in the very late stages of their sickness. These children truly are indirect but serious victims of this situation.” Pray for an end to violence and extremism in Afghanistan. Pray for the healing of the many injured children throughout the nation. Ask the Lord to surround Afghan children with His love and protection (The Bible, Psalm 46:1). reporter.win1040/?page_id=2983
