DID YOU KNOW: Raw fed dogs wont drink as much water as those fed a dry commercial food (kibble). This is something that those new to raw, or those who have switched their dogs to raw, may notice and be concerned about. But it is in fact completely normal and expected. Totally raw, natural food provides food in its natural state, the moisture necessary for digestion is contained in the raw food. Raw meat is actually composed of 80% water! Because kibble has had the water removed, dogs constantly have to drink water in an attempt to maintain proper hydration. This is another reason why cats can commonly suffer from kidney disease and bladder crystals. Cats naturally have a low thirst drive (as they as supposed to get their water from their prey) so when they are fed a diet composed predominately of dry food, they can easily become dehydrated. This chronic (long-term) dehydration is what often leads to serious problems down the track. As long as you have plenty of fresh (filtered) water available for your dog to drink when it wants, feeding them a high water content raw diet, and their stools are fine, then your pet is just fine. Heres a fun video to watch showing dogs drinking in slow motion ;p youtube/watch?v=jxQR0zyldYc
