DILEMA . need some advice As most of you know I sell custom shirts. All of my shirts are made to order, I have none just sitting around. Generally a shirt takes me anywhere from 30 min - 4 hours to create start to finish. I have to cut the vinyl to put in the machine, then I have to cut the vinyl with the machine, then I have to let my heat press warm up to 375 degrees, then I have to weed the vinyl from around the design (that can take a while depending on how intricate the design is), if I have to print on a heat transfer then I have to also incorporate that time in (print it, then cut it on the machine, then weed it), than I have to press the item, fold the item and package the item. Its often a lengthy process. On my listings I give my customers the measurements of the shirts I sell .. because these are custom orders. I have an all sales are final shop policy listed on each listing, and I dont keep a lot of t-shirts in stock (actually I keep 1 shirt of each color in each size at most times, anything more and I have to re-order. If my order isnt over $60, I pay $10 flat rate shipping, regardless of if its 1 $4 shirt or 10). My dilemma .. Ive had someone request an exchange on a fundraiser shirt I did because its too small (they ordered a small). To exchange it means I have to take that shirt back, hope the person didnt wear it or damage it, order another shirt (because I dont have any more small shirts in that color), cut out the vinyl & press it, then ship it back. Then hope someone else buys one of the same color & size. I want to make the customer happy, and not get a negative review .. but also I dont want to lose money either (I made $0 on these shirts, actually they ended up costing me due to an error I made when ordering the heat transfer material wrong, but thats neither here nor there, over & done with & fixed lol). This is the 1st return due to a customer error (not double checking sizes before ordering) Ive been asked to do .. and Im just not sure what is the right thing to do. HELP?
