Pictured on his way home (foster) completely exhausted. :( He is now scheduled for surgery on Wednesday, October 15th (exam evaluation; 2nd picture). His lower front jaw (3rd picture) has 12 teeth missing as well as the jaw bone in that entire area. At this time, there is nothing that can be done or corrected, but will be evaluated during surgery. The large tooth on his lower left side jaw (4th picture) along with two other teeth will be removed. This area is where his chronic bloody infections are occurring. The large tooth is continually collecting bacteria in its surrounding pocket. The missing broken jaw bone will be corrected by suturing the tissue in the area. The tissue will eventually turn into scar tissue which will stabilize his wiggly jaw. An aggressive approach like inserting a plate or wiring is not necessary for a tiny, mid-aged, low-key boy in addition to the fact the bone will never heal back together; too much bone missing. The one and only tooth in the upper jaw (5th picture) will be carefully removed. The canine tooth is also causing infections, which is entering into his nasal area. This has been causing his constant congestion and occasional runny nose. The few teeth on his lower right side jaw will be evaluated with possibly removing three teeth so that he may never experience what he is going through now, again. The surgery is necessary so Carmine will lead a pain-free and oral infection-free life. Hopefully he will gain the ability to completely eat on his own and be able to drink water more easily. All these issues occurred from either trauma or severe case of periodontal disease. Either way, this poor little guy was neglected giving more of an understanding to the reason why he (and Camilla) was confiscated by Animal Control.
