DRESDEN, Tenn. – The two teens that were facing animal cruelty charges in connection to the death of Puppy Doe could have received up to two years in jail. Instead the judge presiding over the case handed down the sentence of community service. Preston Odle (Dresden), 18, and Levi Evans (Greenfield), 19, plead guilty and were charged with a class E felony that carried a maximum sentence of two years, but yesterday the court judge decided to give each teen 100 hours of community service for the next two years. The judge told the teens they now had "an opportunity to make something of your life." The group Justice for Puppy Doe gathered about 25 supporters who hoped the judge would hand down the maximum sentence of two years. The supporters for Puppy Doe released purple balloons in the air after court, to honor Puppy Doe.
