DUNDAS RE-USE this weekend Do you have items around your house that you would like to see re-used? On Friday, September 12th a community re-use event will take place in Dundas. Bulk items and furniture often have great potential to be used again. Before throwing anything away, ask yourself if it can be re-used by someone else. There are many benefits to re-using household items such as: Reducing the amount of waste sent to landfills Preventing pollution from using new raw materials Helping sustain the environment for future generations Supporting local charities and the economy Re-usable goods can be placed out for re-use on Friday, September 12. Residents will have the weekend to browse the neighbourhoods of Dundas for treasures. Any items that aren’t passed on will be picked up by the City on regular scheduled pick-up days throughout the following week, ending Friday, September 19. The City will collect a maximum of six bulk items during the re-use event. Visit hamilton.ca/waste for a list of acceptable items. Mattresses, scrap metal, appliances, construction materials, tires and other items which are listed as unacceptable bulk items on the City’s website will not be collected. These items can be taken to a community recycling centre. Fees may apply. The City of Hamilton accepts no responsibility or liability for the quality, condition, and / or use of any item discarded or acquired through the Dundas re-use event. All participants do so at their own risk. Be aware! Bed bugs can be carried into the home on furniture and clothing. Inspect all items for signs of bed bugs. Look for blood spots, droppings or bugs in cracks, fabric seams, and drawers. Visit hamilton.ca/bedbugs for more information.
