Daily #BibleStudy Reading 5: The Book of #Genesis And God said, “Let the water teem with living creatures, and let birds fly above the earth across the vault of the sky.” So God created the great creatures of the sea and every living thing with which the water teems and that moves about in it, according to their kinds, and every winged bird according to its kind. And God saw that it was good. God blessed them and said, “Be fruitful and increase in number and fill the water in the seas, and let the birds increase on the earth.” And there was evening, and there was morning—the fifth day. Context & Questions: With the appearance of living creatures in their rightful spots—birds in the air, fish in the seas—we get a new word from God. This is the word of blessing. God blesses the creatures because he wants them too to thrive, to flourish, to increase on the earth. They too are part of the goodness of God’s new world. And notice that it is part of God’s pattern in creation that there is a kind of fittingness at work here. The creatures are “according to their kinds,” the right kind of creatures in the right kind of place. Teeming life, a gift from the Creator. Next up: Something unique in the world
