In literary circles, village is known for the literary “Baba Bohar” S. Sant Singh Sekhon. However, for many others, it is famous as the village of General Sant Singh Sekhon, who remained the officiating Head of the Army for some period and whose farm was visited even by then Prime Minister of India Smt. In 1969-70, some ignited souls which included Gen Sant Singh Sekhon, Major Bachitar Singh, Jathedar Gurdev Singh, Master Harbhajan Singh, Baba Jiwan Singh etc. started seriously pondering over the possibility a degree college at the very doorstep where the youth of the area, particularly the girls, could get the higher education.
