You could almost see it coming considering the complete remont of both the team and everything else in the club during the last summer. Still, no one could expect such a bad start of the season that Stars have. A bad and fickle shape has been around since the first game, and even with a few flashes, Stars havent reached their full potential even close, or justified the funds invested in them. So, they deserve to be on the last position of the very strong West, with five defeats and only six points from eight games. Stars proved in the last few duels that winning against San Jose was definitely just a coincidence, even though the Dallas team are a blast mine for any NHL team that dont take the Texans seriously. However, after celebrating against the currently best team of the league, Stars convincingly lost two consecutive duels where they had a chance for something more. LA Kings crushed them 5-2, and the second away game also finished with a defeat because Anaheim were better, and ended it with 6-3. - Its frustrating. Even though their offense works fine at the moment, Stars team dont look promising because they arent compact as a team, with defense being a total chaos. Calgary are finishing the series of away games in Dallas today. They werent successful, with three defeats in the last four games, and their problems are showing. The inconsistency and oscillations during the game and during the season are some of those problems. After a great win against Kings, which they got thanks to three powerplay goals and a heroic defense, they flew to Phoenix right away, and played against Coyotes who defeated them. Flames were probably a bit tired, too, after the game against the Kings, so they did that game bad as well. The home team lead 2-0, but Flames got back on track with Stempniak and Colborn scoring. Unfortunately, they were out of strength in the third period, and Phoenix scored once again, deciding the game. They played okay, and have nothing to be ashamed of, but Phoenix are a better team. - We came back strong late in the second period and got the game even, but it was too little too late. Its a good sign that were able to come back, but we didnt generate enough shots early - Flames forward Lee Stempniak said. They conceded 32 goals in nine games, and its not something to brag about, but it gives a realistic image of their defense. Their penalty killing from the last nine games is also bad, 69%, and thats the worst in the league. Thats a big weakness and a flaw, and it could cost them if they dont pull together defensively. Captain and an important defenseman Giordano is questionable because of a minor injury. He missed the last game.
