Day 1 report - Tour du Burundi - what a ride!!! Today we bike 77 miles south of the city along the lake. Mostly flat but a few gentle climbs along the way. Ive never biked that far before....ever! But ended the day feeling great, tired bum and all. So many incredible and interesting sites along the way, kids, local bike riders (one of the main way goods are moved here) and just so many people out along the roads. We are staying a a pretty nice little resort (by Burundi standards). Tomorrow we leave the flat of the lake sure and begin the steep climb into the mtns, 4000+ feet up up up.... Bring it on!!!! Having never been on a ride with more than 2 people, riding in a peloton with 20 is an incredible new experience. Can you say drafting??? :-0
