Day 2 in the Arctic Circle...sitting here listening to A Tribe Called Red on the deck of the ship. There is no such thing as darkness here as we sail in the constant light. I am not missing home but I am missing my sweet love Indica Cardinal. Today we went to shore to listen to the some of the Arctics leading scientists at the KingsFjord climate research station, Ny-Ålesund. It was painful to hear them explain their research about the effects of the quickly receding glaciers and the devastation it is creating already. My eyes have been opened and I will never be the same person that left Canada not so long ago. We then went out on the zodiaks to see the glaciers. There were only 3 icebergs floating and thousands of small bits of ice all around us. I feel I am in the presence of the sacred on this important trip.
