Day 20: I had to research what day to call this day and I noticed a human flaw. Pride in a previous post taking pride in a motor I rebuilt. Well it is a good one but the one hose I didnt replace between the overhauled engine and the existing fuel tank, and the starter I overhauled at a car shop instead if replacing it new both let us down at the same time. The engine quit and we couldnt turn it over with the starter. After thinking it over for a while Alex Farley and I come up with a plan. Replace the fuel filter and turn the engine over by shorting the solenoid while we turn the crankshaft over with a socket to help reduce the resistance placed on the starter. Its calm and flat when this happens the first time and is easy for us both to go down and perform tasks at two stations. Its running smooth again and I rationalize that the reason it quit was because I had a 2 micron filter in the fuel system and its too refining lowering the flow of the fuel and allowing an air bubble to be drawn out if the water separator. Well its fixed now. Doesnt matter if the starter doesnt work because were not shutting this motor down till we reach Chicago!! Well..almost?!
