Day 3: 09:30 Exchange of Experience In this circle the group shared share their experiences and information about their organisations and projects in Belarus, Moldova and Ukraine. 14:30 Hebbel am Ufer (report by Oksana Buga and Rusanda Curca, Moldova) Theater and Performance Center Subject: Hebbel am Ufer theater as a producer of independent and urban theater The HAU theatre was founded in the beginning of 20’s century as a classic repertoire theatre. In 2007 it became an International theatre, which is based on different international collaborations with foreign artists (dancers, actors, theatre directors, musicians) and the local ones. During this years theatre had no repertoire program and was working on projects and collaborations, in which administration is divides in groups of curators and everyone has his own field to work with: music, dance, theatre. Due to this organization system they have managed to organize a lot of performances and very diverse program during the years. In 2012 they have had an interesting promoting campaign, with big portraits of animals hanging around the city and just staring at you. The massage of this posters was to make people to stop and think about their life, what was normal and what not in their habits. The HAU theatre is not only looking to invite artists for collaborations, but to invite people from neighbourhoods as well, to understand better their needs and priorities. In this context they also organize an educational and social program establishing discussion with public. One of this programs was called “Politic and Fantasma”. It was about the meaning of doing art in a political sense. After some time they start to collaborate with Moldavian independent theatre Spalatorie, which has a great success and brings together Romanian, Hungarian and German audience. During our journey to Berlin, we also attended some events at the HAU Festival. Good guys only win in movies, that took place from 5.11 till 9.11, held a lot of cultural and theatrical performances. This way, we attended the speech of Romanian art critic and curator Raluca Voinea: 25 years in 25 minutes - a lecture with video slides about Romanian changes from 1989 till 2014, based on political, cultural and social aspects. It is interesting how author has put together different moments from this period, like the legendary revolution in 1989 and opening of the first MacDonalds restaurant in 1995. After that, in the same evening, we went to performance American dream, directed by Nicoleta Esinencu from Spalatorie Theatre. Based on real story, the play is about a girl whose dreamed is to see the USA and make some money with Work&Travel program. After she failed in this experience, she tries to go to Russia to make money so she can repay debts for the trip in USA. This life experience is also completed by Monopoly game, which blends together American and Russian politic systems. It helps you see the image of this two opposite countries which seem to be not so different after you saw this performance.
