Day 30 of #MawlidGems: Farewelling Rabbi Al-Awwal - TopicsExpress

Day 30 of #MawlidGems: Farewelling Rabbi Al-Awwal 1436: Asalāmu`alaykum wrwb all, in shā Allāh this finds you in the best health and Imān. :’) As of Maghrib today, the month of Rabbi Al-Awwal of the Hijrī year 1436 met its end, making this post this year’s final #MawlidGem. Instead of posting an excerpt from the Prophetic Biography, the glorious Shamā`il (narrations on the character and traits of the Prophet salAllāhu `alayhi wa sallim) or a Hadīth on a timely counsel, I have decided to do something completely different – and hopefully beneficial and long-lasting. I have decided to choose a minimum of nine Ahādīth and/or Sunan, which I will implement over the course of the next nine Hijrī months, in shā Allāh. They have been chosen according to my own shortcomings and weaknesses, and I highly encourage you all to do the same. Feel free to use the same Ahādīth/Sunan as I, however, the amount of Ahādīth/Sunan and the method by which you achieve your desired objective, is totally up to you: you may choose to do more, or you may choose to do less – that is subject to your own will and discretion. What matters is that you keep this going, in shā Allāh! Finally, the method by which I will reach my objectives, is to do a weekly check four times every month, and in that assessment, I will brainstorm strengths and weaknesses, renew intentions, strive, and make constant Du`ā, in shā Allāh. May Allāh Most High guide and help us, protect us from all harm, and increase us in every good. Āmīn, Āmīn, Āmīn! The Ahādith are as follows: • Hadīth 1: Excellence with one’s mother: A man came to the Prophet salAllāhu `alayhi wa sallim and said, ‘O Messenger of God! Who among the people is the most worthy of my good companionship? The Prophet salAllāhu `alayhi wa sallim said: “Your mother.” The man said, ‘Then who? The Prophet salAllāhu `alayhi wa sallim said: “Then your mother.” The man further asked, ‘Then who? The Prophet salAllāhu `alayhi wa sallim said: “Then your mother.” The man asked again, ‘Then who? The Prophet salAllāhu `alayhi wa sallim said: “Then your father.” [Reference: Bukhārī and Muslim]. • Hadīth 2: Excellence with one’s family: The Prophet salAllāhu `alayhi wa sallim said: “The best of you are those who are best to their families, and I am the best of you to my family.” [Reference: Tirmidhī]. • Hadīth 3: Excellence with one’s community: The Prophet salAllāhu `alayhi wa sallim said: “The one who is not merciful to our young, and respectful to our elders, and does not enjoin good and forbid evil, is not from us.” [Reference: Ahmad]. • Hadīth 4: Excellence with a fellow Muslim: The Prophet salAllāhu `alayhi wa sallim said: “Do not envy each other, do not bid against each other, do not hate each other, do not turn your backs on each other, and let none of you sell upon the sale of another.” [Reference: Muslim]. • Hadīth 5: Excellence with one’s teachers and students: The Prophet salAllāhu `alayhi wa sallim said: “Teach and make things easy, and do not create difficulty, and when anyone of you is angry, he should remain silent.” [Reference: Ahmad]. • Hadīth 6: Excellence with one’s neighbour (irregardless of religion): The Prophet salAllāhu `alayhi wa sallim said: “He is not a believer who fills his stomach while his neighbour is hungry.” [Reference: Bukhārī]. • Hadīth 7: Excellence in one’s work-related and general dealings: The Prophet salAllāhu `alayhi wa sallim said: “Return the trust to the one who has entrusted you, and do not be treacherous to the one who was treacherous to you.” [Reference: Abu Da`wud]. • Hadīth 8: Excellence in one’s emotional state (particularly composure): The Prophet salAllāhu `alayhi wa sallim said: “Whenever one of you gets angry while he is standing, he should sit down, if anger goes out of him [that is good], but if not, he should lie down.” [Reference: Abu Da`wud]. • Hadith 9: Excellence in one’s dealings with others (particularly patience): The Prophet salAllāhu `alayhi wa sallim said: “The believer who mingles with the people and is patient upon their harming him, will have a greater reward than the believer who does not mingle with the people and does not show patience upon their harming him.” [Reference: Ibn Mā`jah].
