Day 5 of 5 songs, over 5 days and nominate 5 people every day to populate FB with music courtesy of Michael Ferry. My 5 picks are all singers/bands that influenced my love of music and particularly Americana music. Ive went from the Stray Cats to Elvis and from The Long Ryders to Steve Earle. My final pick is the guy that opened my eyes to country rock and Cosmic American Music. He influenced The Rolling Stones, The Byrds and just about everyone he ever touched with his music. Im talking about Cecil Ingram Connor III known to you and I as Gram Parsons. Martin Conway probably wont remember this but he gave me a mixed tape of music many moons ago and on that tape was artists including Martin Stephenson and The Daintees but two voices stood out above all others and that was Gram Parsons and Emmylou Harris singing live.
