Day 6 - I love that Mark still believes in chivalry. One of the character traits he said of himself when he applied for a date 22 years ago was that he was chivalrous. He believes in treating a lady as a lady. He still does. He still opens the car door for me, he still opens doors for me to walk through, he pulls out my chair, he lets me order first. Recently my car AC went out – bad news here in Houston. On days when I have to work (and on my birthday), he has been taking my car, without complaint and he does NOT like my car – he hasn’t for years – and yet he takes it to work so I can drive in an air conditioned car. When he is a raisin, I imagine him as the cute little raisin wearing his shorts pulled up to his rib cage with black socks and loafers, a fedora hat, still opening the car door for me to get in, or maybe even out by then, who knows. I wouldn’t put it past him. I love that Mark is chivalrous, and he is training his son to be chivalrous as well. It’s not a dying art after all.
