Thistle jewellery is designed and handmade by Wendy Stok on Gabriola Island, BC. Wendy combines traditional silversmithing techniques with a contemporary aesthetic to create jewellery that is unique, beautiful and well made. Her designs are influenced by natural forms as well as nostalgia for the beauty of bygone times. She aims to make pieces that are functional and graceful and sees wearing jewellery as an opportunity to inject a little loveliness into the everyday. After her formal training as a woodworker along with a foray into childrens apparel, Wendy has more recently been learning the fine art of silversmithing with Nina Turczyn of Paprika Design. Originally from Montreal, she now lives and plays with her partner and their daughter on a beautiful little island situated in the Straight of Georgia. Wendys line of jewelry is one of our newest additions. She apprenticed with Nina from Paprika Design and when you see her work there is no question about that. As you know, we love having Ninas beautiful work and it is clear to see that she is not only an amazing silversmith but also instructor! Thistles line of jewelry shows that same attention to detail and incredible sawing techniques as well as use of oxidation and patinas.
