Dear Classmates... All to soon I need to report another passing of a classmate and friend in a fatal car accident yesterday. Reports say that Jimmy Freudenberger was killed instantly. :( I dont have much more info then what was reported. I do know that his brother, Dale, was the one to let his only daughter know. His friend I recd info from said that he was so happy to have gotten to come to the reunion and was so excited to tell his church friends all about it. I am so glad we got to spend the evening with him. He was so kind and compassionate to everyone... so appreciative of his BE family. As I receive more info, I will be sure to pass it along. RIP Jimmy... you will be sorely missed. :( Diane I-85 fatal wreck SPARTANBURG COUNTY, S.C. —One person was killed after two wrecks backed up traffic on I-85 Friday morning. Lanes closed because of construction also clogged the interstate, adding to the backup. The first wreck was confirmed to be a fatality at mile marker 60, which is Highway 101. A wreck on Highway 290 also backed up traffic on the interstate at exit 63. Construction cones set up past Highway 290 closed two of the three lanes, further adding to the backup. Drivers reported stop-and-go traffic, with periods of delay until 10 a.m. One caller to the WYFF newsroom said he tracked the backup at 10 miles at one point, though South Carolina Highway Patrol troopers could not confirm it. Spartanburg County Coroner Charles Clevenger confirmed he was called to the wreck at mile marker 60. The wreck was reported at 3:22 a.m., according to the Highway Patrol website. According to Highway Patrol Cpl. Bill Rhyne, one lane was closed at that location while crews worked to clean up the wreck. Rhyne said the wreck involved a 2013 Volvo tractor-trailer, with a driver from Atlanta. The other vehicle involved was a 2004 Chevrolet sedan. The driver of that car was identified as James Fruedenberger, 48, of Simpsonville. Officials said Fruedenberger was not wearing a seat belt and was pronounced dead at the scene. The Highway Patrol multi-jurisdictional investigative team arrived at the scene just before 6:30 a.m., Rhyne said.
