Dear Editor Media Statement - Tax payers demand action from government as No remedial work done yet on Collapse Jalan Minitod - Bantayan causing massive jam in Inanam, Kolombong and Jalan Lintas YB Dr Roland. Chia State Assemblyman of Inanam is very upset that no immediate remedial work carried out in the Collapse of Jalan Minitod- Bantayan, Inanam that happened on the 11 Oct 2014 . This has caused intense traffic jam and mental stress to motorists over the last few days. As of today, there was no action yet from the relevant authorities. Only the BOMBA, Jabatan Pertahanan Awam , JPJ and Police came to alert the public on the 10th and the 11th October, after that there was no road contractors that came forward to commence any remedial work. I urge the federal and state Public Works Department to immediately start remedial works as the days go by - the public who are also tax payers are very disillusioned with the capability of the BN government in running both the State of Sabah and Malaysia. according to YB Dr Roland Chia , this road is one of the 3 main roads that connects Penampang and the Interior of Sabah to Kolombong, Inanam, Menggatal, Telipok and also to the East Coast of Sabah. The other being Jalan Lintas highway and Jalan Bukit Padang Kolombong. The Jalan Minitod- Bantayan road is also vital for heavy vehicles plying from the industrial areas of Inanam constituencies to the Interior of Sabah and to the east coast. YB Dr Roland Chia has received many calls from the public on the matter. Many of them are stressed out because now it takes double the time to go to work and double the time to go home. The extra time and extra fuel spent on the roads has indeed reduce their productivity and added burden to their costs of living since the increase of pump oil prices. YB Dr. Roland Chia was personally there at the site on the eve of the collapse after receiving alert calls from the public. The collapse of the road has also brought some economic activity to slow down or to a stand still because some of the relied heavily on transportation. I hope that the BN Member of Parliament of Sepanggar will highlight this problem in the ongoing Parliament session and not just sweep under the carpet as the state Inanam constituency is under his parliament area. To add salt into injury, the Prime Minister in the national budget of 2015 has failed to announce any emergency funds for repair of road collapse affecting Sabah despite Sabah being the biggest oil and gas producer in the country. The public demands immediate action from the authorities to resolve this matter as taxes are collected from them but does not translate into crisis resolution as in the case of remedial work of Jalan Bantayan- Minitod, Inanam.
