Dear Families, Friends, and 2D Battalion Rangers -- past and present, We are well into the deployment now, and well into this year’s fighting season. I want you all to know upfront how amazing your Rangers have been over here…from crushing key enemy networks, to maintaining their equipment and infrastructure, to training and elevating their Afghan comrades in arms. Watching them in action is simply inspiring. I hope you have enjoyed the few glimpses of the team that we can provide you all, and that it helps you visualize your Rangers in action, as they focus on missions and prepare for the next challenge. We are in the midst of the Muslim Holy Period of Ramadan now and continue to go after the enemy groups that threaten the security gains that have been made in Afghanistan through years of hard fighting. It is heartening to see the Afghan forces assume more and more of the mission load, and our efforts directly give them the additional time and space they need to increase their levels of confidence and cohesion; as they get closer and closer to the complete assumption of responsibility for the security of their Nation. I would be remiss if I also didn’t recognize the incredible things going on back at the home front. Spouses, children, Rear Detachment Rangers, and Community Friends all came together to pull off the “Run for the Fallen” a 170 mile road, relay race that helped the Lead the Way Fund raise over $10,000. Very humbling to see such commitment and belief in our Battalion…and definitely motivates us here forward. We miss our loved ones dearly, and look forward to seeing you soon. Rangers Lead the Way!
