Dear Friends, A recent BBC article described the lack of global education as one of the biggest man-made disasters on the planet. It asked the question: Why does a lack of education never get treated like an emergency? The sad thing is that with over 40 million children globally still without access to education, the future of so many continues to bleak. As Nelson Mandela once said, Education is the Primary Way for a person to escape poverty in their lifetime. The wonderful Room to Read state Overwhelming research continues to show that education is a crucial ingredient to sustainably solving hunger, unemployment, conflict, climate change, discrimination...the list goes on and on. Global access to education is the crucial first step in tackling these challenges Education is not just a nice to have, it is a critical part of the world around us, the fight against disease and poverty, the war on terror and on a simple level its about humanity and giving a child the very basis that they deserve...a chance at life. These problems are global and that is why we are passionate about them. Thank you to everyone who took part in our Cycle Challenge at the weekend, to Andy Smith who ran his Iron Man challenge for us, to Willie Edgar who has signed up to a Half Marathon, to our previous fundraisers and future, to all of the people who support our programmes and the people who will Volunteer with us in the future and to those that have in the past. To everyone who gives regularly, to those that have given once, to our child sponsors, to the old lady who gave £5 because that is all she could afford but knew that it was important to, to those that pray to those that believe in us - thank you. I couldnt do it without you...we couldnt exist without you. With Sincere Thanks and Love Matthew
