Dear Friends... At 42, I am no longer ashamed of the Gospel of Christ. That always reminds me of one of my most-favoured scriptures... (1 Corinthians 13-11... When I was a child, I spake as a child, I felt as a child, I thought as a child: now that I am become a man, I have put away childish things) KJV. Therefore, confidently, please allow me to share with you that my amazing wife Jacquie and I, have lived to tell-the-tale after surviving scratch-free, a bad accident (my first in 25 years of driving) on our way home last night. I DECLARE, IN HIS NAME THAT IT WILL BE MY FIRST AND LAST ACCIDENT DRIVING OR FLYING. Thank you Lord for victoriously fighting in our corner when the enemy strikes. Incredibly, at the scene, no one thought of taking any photos! As a road traffic safety writer and columnist, I am acutely particular about how each one of us drives. Motor vehicles needlessly kill and maim too many people in Zimbabwe. The police will finalize on the matter next week but I am saddened at the carefree manner the other guy drove his large Nissan SUV... suddenly turning right into his gate (without checking his rear mirrors) as I was performing an overtaking manoeuvre, can you handle! The result... an almighty impact and screeching of tyres! Sadly, as I have observed over the years, as is common with most drivers at home, he did use his indicator BUT incorrectly! Only as he was initiating his turn did he indicate! Not well in advance as every driver should do to warn the driver following! I think sometimes we underestimate the power of prayer by which I mean many times we say prayers exhorting God for the safety and protection of our families and friends and we think not much about its relevance. After last night, I think such banked prayers invoke the Lord to do his miracle-working thing when the enemy would, STEAL, KILL and DESTROY. Bless you friends, relatives and acquaintances. Please drive sober and undistracted. ALWAYS! PS. Thank you family friend Mandy Chigumba for responding and being on the scene in minutes and my brother too, Dr. Brian. You guys are fantastic! May God bless you much. Thank you ZRP police for professionally processing the accident scene. Mandy had to drive though to pick up the cops! Dear friends in the Diaspora, at home we do not have the ultra-luxury of dialing 911 and the cops coming blazing in blue-and-red lights, in minutes! In Zim, when you need the police, you GO GET A COP!
