Dear Hollygrove Market & Farm Community, I recently had my last - TopicsExpress

Dear Hollygrove Market & Farm Community, I recently had my last day working with HM&F. I leave New Orleans to travel around the U.S. visiting and working with family and friends. In January Ill head to South East Asia and plan to spend a year or more there. You can bet that my travels will involve if not revolve around farms. Over the last 4 1/2 years Ive seen the market grow so much. Starting with the collaboration of Carollton-Hollygrove CDC, the New Orleans Food & Farm Network, & Tulane City Center breaking ground in 2008. I can remember Paul Barricos (at that time director of the CDC) working tirelessly to make sure that we got off the ground and then later long hours actually working the market. At one point we were running satellite markets at St. Annas Church, The French Market, Tulane & Loyola. In the evenings we would pull back the display cases and host the Hollygrove neighborhood meetings which Bill would lead and cook dinner for. We had to work with 5 refrigerators, a cargo van and no walk in coolers. We made it work because we love what we do. Now we are up to 12 staff, work with over 40 farmers and have a 7 day/week amazing local market! I have had so much to be inspired by . . . Our community gardeners and mentor farmers Our Rockstar Work Trade Volunteers Our Community Partners Our Restaurant and Chef Our Staff Our Farmers Our Customers Thank You! It has be a great blessing to contribute to the mission of making local food more available in New Orleans by supporting small family farms. Please stay in touch. Sincerely and with gratitude, Alyssa Denny
